Description of the product
The hinged plastic slide is covered on both sides with agar medium. Enclosed in an aseptic vial, the slide is easy to transport to the site monitored. There is no need to transport samples to the laboratory.
The slide is inoculated by the contact method, swabbing or dipping.
The use of Hygicult does not affect the safety of the surface or the raw material.
A model chart provided with each kit allows easy interpretation of results after inoculation.

Hygicult TPC
Coated with total plate count medium, this extensively validated slide is especially suitable for monitoring general hygienic status, as it supports the growth of fungi. The medium contains lecithin and Tween to neutralise any traces of cleaning agents on surfaces.
Convenient Testing Procedure
Contact inoculation
- for surfaces and solid samples
- press both sides of the hinged slide against the sample for about 5 seconds
Swabbing
- use a sterile moistened swab to transfer the sample from sites that are difficult to reach
- roll the swab on the agar surface to transfer the microbes onto the agar for cultivation
Dipping
- immerse the slide into the liquid for a few seconds
- blot excess liquid from the slide to ensure reliable transportation of the slide
Incubation
- at room temperature for 3 days when monitoring general hygienic status
Interpretation of results
- the density of microbial growth is compared with the model chart.
