The addition of Polymixin in the CLED agar creates a selective medium for the growth of Enterococci, Staphlococci, Proteus and Yeast while preventing the growth of most E.Coli, Klebsiella, and Enterobacter. EMB agar isolates and supports the growth of gram negative intestinal pathogenic bacteria.
